muker-show2016.jpg Muker was a inundated with visitors last week for the 2016 Muker Show and this year the weather held out for a lovely sunny day.

Two very happy customers!

customers-web.jpgThis August (2014) we had a visit from a lovely couple who purchased a sweater each from us. They looked so good in them that they allowed us to take a photo of them for our website, pictured opposite. Fortunately it was also a beautiful day here in Muker!

The ladies sweater is a hand-knitted Langthwaite Sweater in Natural Wensleydale wool (£116). The gentlemans sweater is a machine-knitted Mid-weight Aran Sweater in Natural Welsh Hill wool (£88). Both are available in various sizes.

Celebrating 40 Years of Swaledale Woollens

Swaledale Woollens is holding an exhibition in Muker Public Hall to celebrate 40 years of the business. It will take place over the weekend of The Tour De France, 5th & 6th July from 10.00 am – 5.00 pm each day. It will be showing old photographs, newspaper cuttings, old knitting patterns and some garments knit from Swaledale Wool and purchased from the shop in the 1970’s. There will be displays of garments from the past through to what we now sell in the shop and on our web-site. You will be able to see how the fashions and styles have changed over the 40 years and how Swaledale Wool itself has changed with modern processing machines softening the wool slightly. There will also be displays of our sheepskin range. The exhibition is also showing photographs and the history of the Swaledale Sheep Breed over the past 40 years with a stand from The Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association. There will be a history display of Muker Village and the surrounding area and paintings from the local Art Group. Andrea Hunter of Focus on Felt will also have a display of her work using felted wool. Everyone welcome to come along and see the full range of our garments produced by the very talented ladies we have who knit and crochet for Swaledale Woollens past and present.
